Functioning of the Center
1. Inclusive Governance and social security
Broadly, the vertical shall work towards data driven policy formulation, implementation strategies, monitoring and evolution frameworks. The focus shall be on evaluating and designing social security systems with focus on Last mile delivery and explore inclusive practices in digital governance for vulnerable sections of society including persons with disabilities, elderly, tribal etc.
2. Climate Change and Environment Governance
Despite the fact that the problem of climate change is not a creation of the developing world we cannot escape its catastrophic consequences. In fact, these may be felt more severely by developing countries than the developed world, owing to the absence of resources, higher poverty levels, income disparate. In this regard, where advocacy at the global level for consensus based approach can’t be stressed enough, there is need to focus on bringing together experts across sectors to work towards developing solution addressing adaptation, mitigation and rehabilitation strategies integrating traditional knowledge/ practices with modern approaches. The primary focus of the vertical shall be in this direction.
3. Digital Governance and Technology
This vertical shall focus and leverage technology for better governance outcomes. It would explore the use of digital tool; data analytics and emerging technologies to enhance service delivery streamline administrative processes and improve citizen engagement. This vertical shall develop capacities to provide consultancy services to different stakeholders in areas of e-governance, cybersecurity, data privacy, IT infrastructure and emerging technologies like AI, IOT, etc.
4. Urban Design and Planning
Our cities are emerging as concrete jungles with unplanned housing which pose a serious threat to our environment. The absence of green spaces, faulty sewage systems and in general absence of plan of expansion will exacerbate the crises of living in the not –so-distant future. This vertical shall engage planners, designers, architects, geospatial scientists, environmentalists and devise coping strategies.
5. Education Governance
The vertical shall undertake policy design and intervention for implementation of NEP- 2020 from school level upwards for realization of the transformational objectives of the policy and harness the demographic dividend.
